We’re ActionAid’s cheeky little sister (big sis is an international charity that works in the world’s poorest countries)
We don’t think ending poverty is just about chucking a few coins in a bucket, sending food parcels or feeling guilty.
It’s about fighting injustice. ActionAid believes all humans have equal rights to food, education, security, healthcare and freedom of opinion. And where this isn’t a reality, we work with the people affected to change things, for good.
You can do things a bit differently with Bollocks to Poverty. You don’t need to put on coffee mornings or cake sales, you can do what you love doing.
Whatever you’re into you can support people fighting their way out of poverty.
Shake a tin at your mates and they might chuck you a pound, but throw them a party and they’ll feel inspired to do much more.
Whether you put on a gig, jump out of a plane, pester your MP or volunteer at a festival, say Bollocks to Poverty and do it with ActionAid.
We love to hear what you think...

Below are the artists behind the amazing artwork sitting at the top of every page. To mark international women's day, we're asking people to throw a party celebrating women. Women's rights are at the heart of ActionAid, and we believe they are central to ending poverty for good. The artwork represents women's rights, and our belief that music can bring people together. Read the artists accounts of making the pieces below.
Andy Miller - Empower women, end poverty

"I chose the theme "Empower Women, End Poverty" because recently I have been utterly overwhelmed by the state of the global climate of women's rights. I did not even realize that in some countries, even today, women still have a very low place in society. Actually, I saw a program about women in Ethiopia and it broke my heart in so many ways that I was thrilled to be able to do this project to help inspire other people to learn more and do something themselves. I really wanted the piece to be vibrant and full of life. I wanted to promote women in a powerful positive way, not exhibit the lack of rights and the negative side. Although I do think its important to face the real gruesome facts, I also truly believe that we can do something about these problems and I wanted my art to reflect that side of the issue."
Nous Vous - Coming together through music
"Groups of people are powerful. Trying to achieve something together is much more efficient than trying to do it on your own. Our artwork suggests a festival crowd but the raised hands/fists are symbolic of fighting for a cause, determination, a collective spirit and positive attitudes."
Throw a party to celebrate International Women’s Day and stand up for the women fighting discrimination, poverty and violence.
