Hannah Bond, co-CEO of ActionAid UK, said: “One year on from the attacks in Israel on 7th October our thoughts are with the families of all those who were killed, the hostages and with all those who are anxiously waiting for their safe return.
“In the midst of this tragedy, we also recognise the profound human suffering, fear and loss in Gaza, where over 40,000 people have been killed following the October 7th attacks and where the humanitarian situation is catastrophic.
“All nations, including Britain, that should uphold human rights have a responsibility to act decisively in this crisis. This includes halting arms sales and considering necessary sanctions. All allegations of breaches of international humanitarian law must be thoroughly and impartially investigated, ensuring accountability for those responsible. We must stand united in solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy and do everything in all our power to end this now – for the good of humanity.
"We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the release of the hostages. It has never been more urgent, for the hostages, for the people of Gaza and for everyone in the Region who continues to face overwhelming fear and loss.”
