We are outraged by the devastating attack on Khadija girls' school in Gaza.
We are deeply shocked and saddened by the devastating Israeli military airstrike on the Khadija girls' school in Deir al Balah in central Gaza. This horrific attack has resulted in the loss of at least 30 lives and left over 100 individuals wounded. Among the victims are innocent children and families who had sought refuge in one of the most densely populated areas for displaced families.
Our staff were in close proximity to this attack, and our staff and partners across the Gaza Strip continue to risk their lives every day to help those in need while themselves urgently needing protection. Their courage and dedication are truly commendable. Despite the constant danger on their life, they remain committed to providing life-saving support and assistance to the affected communities. As has been proven yet again today – there is nowhere safe in Gaza.
ActionAid calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all Governments to meet their obligations under international law and use all available means to take immediate and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of all civilians. We call for the imposition of sanctions, including travel bans and asset freezes, on Israeli officials linked to alleged violations of international humanitarian law. The starving and beleaguered population of Gaza can’t wait any longer.
