ActionAid is a member charity of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), working together to deliver aid to people most affected by humanitarian disasters around the world.

The She Can Project (2014 – 2017), funded by DFID under its Aid Match initiative, aimed to increase safety, mobility and access to justice, and to improve gender-responsive public services for vulnerable women and girls living in cities across Bangladesh, Kenya, Myanmar and Zimbabwe.

UK aid is the financial support Britain gives to poorer countries to promote sustainable development, eliminate world poverty and help people whose lives have been destroyed by disaster or conflict.

Plans for women-only screenings of the Wonder Woman film premiere in the US and a festival primarily for black women in Paris have raised questions about the impact of dedicated spaces for marginalised groups. Some people have raised concerns that women-only groups may create even more division within society.
