British director Remi Weekes, BAFTA award winning actor Wunmi Mosaku and Country Director for international charity ActionAid in Bangladesh, Farah Kabir discuss Remi’s haunting debut film ‘His House’

What?

His House, in which a young couple from war-torn South Sudan seek refuge and a fresh start in England, but find they are tormented by a sinister force in their new home, is available to watch on Netflix now. The BFI is hosting a panel discussion about the film as part of its ‘BFI At Home’ series of Screen Talks and Filmmaker Q&As with director Remi Weekes, actor Wunmi Mosaku and Country Director for international charity ActionAid in Bangladesh, Farah Kabir.

During the discussion, Remi will explore the use of horror to bring the refugee experience to life and explain what he wants the audience to take away from the film. Wunmi, who plays Rial, will describe how she got in touch with her character and how she created her on-screen relationship with co-star Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù. Wunmi is an ambassador for international charity ActionAid and will be joined by Farah Kabir from ActionAid in Bangladesh to discuss the refugee experience in more detail, as well as Farah’s work with women and girls in the world’s largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar.

When?

The panel discussion will be available online from Wednesday 11th November at 7pm.
